The middle looks like it was started to be made into a ring. Current melt value is like $1.20ish a piece so you did well there. The 44 and 07S are worth more than that though. 44 not as much as the 07S though. I definitely would've paid $1 each. FYI - the "W" on those Mercs is not the mint mark, but part of the designers initials.
1944W- NOT 1918 W- NOT Please post pics of the reverse Maybe your seeing the A over W and thinking it is the mintmark, but probably Philadelphia. $2.48 for 07s $2.30 for 18 $2 for 44 The only "W" mintmark Mercury Dime is the 2016-W Gold Centennial Issue.
Sorry guys NEWBie alert I shoulda posted my grandma gave me a box coins about a month ago (not these) and I been on hunt ever since
So in that picture the 18 doesn’t look spooned, just worn. Hard for me to tell based on your pictures. For future reference, pictures of individual coins (obverse and reverse) are the best way togo. Also helps to mention what you think you are seeing if asking about a variety or error.
Thanks folks..just started collecting old coins at 34 I can't imagine everything I've probably passed up not knowing what I do now..also have a few Morgan silver dollars, silver quarters, silver kennedys and few bars of silver in the collection it's a start!
Silver dimes are always worth a dollar each. Worst you can do is break even, and sometimes you can get lucky with a rare or well conditioned coin.
@Hogg83 , welcome to CoinTalk. It's a great place to learn and ask as many questions as you can. It would be a good idea to get yourself a Red Book. A used one is perfectly fine. Prices in the book are dated and not current, but you can get a general sense of the key dates of any series. It will also teach you some basics about the hobby. You can find the Red Book in many places. eBay would be a great place to get a used one.
I'm 34 as well...I used to collect when I was 6-12 years old, but stopped for some reason and got into other things. I always checked my change, though, for silver and rare coins. $1 each is good...especially with silver on the up and up. Barber dimes I'd pay $2 for most of the time. Morgans are the best! I just wish I could find one in circulation. =/
