How big is the Loomis half dollar "pool"?

I have been getting a lot of marked halves from Loomis rolls. I was wondering why so many had letter and marks on them. Mostly 1976 bicentennials.
    This is really interesting.

The mods here are great, but I don’t think they have Subpoena Power.

So I guess arresting one is out of the question? Well maybe something covert then? Like surveillance, wiretap?

I've been doing this for some time and just have ask lots of questions to tellers, and have timed my pick ups around the time the Loomis drivers arrive and ask them questions I think they can answer without being a questionable person that would be a threat. I pulled two out and posted them on the Roll searchers thread, there were way two many to bother with. My books are full with NIFCs, waiting for my first 2018 finds,

Coulda taken a few from my boxes this week. About 6 rolls each of 18P and 18D. I dumped them back into circulation after taking some for my folder. Maybe you will luck out and get some of the ones I dumped lol.

Agreed - a small dot of Sharpie ink applied to a specific area on the edge does it - easy to spot when 'edge scanning' a roll and easy to remove with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol, if desired. ;)

I get so many halves marked with different marks it gets crazy. They are mixed in with NIFC, Proofs, and Silver all the time. I actually count how many are marked in each box and make note of it on my spreadsheet. Just curious how many I run into each year.

OK - sounds great that you show up when Loomis is there. If they DO know you, show up next time with a box of doughnuts. I'm sure they're trained to take time to observe their surroundings, and if there's some 'good guy' [you] around, one of them might give you a minute, and you give him forum address, to register.

People here are nice to the guy, he lets on with (whatever he's allowed to) . Nothing to lose, GOOD INFO TO GAIN ;)

My new bank [manager that I spoke with], as of today, let on that delivery is Thursdays. I WILL make that effort......

Furry. Did you not mark the other 10k casino coins. Did you dump the bad ones near schools

Just don't think marking up coins at someone else's expanse is unfair nor noble. Nuff said

I marked the junkers and that was it. As for whether or not they were near schools, who knows. Nor do I care any more :) If anyone happens to run across a half marked "FF" that's mine...sorry I guess?

Magic erasers remove marker off of coins really well. I removed a weird symbol somebody drew on a silver one with it and it came right off.

It is an "endless supply" in my area for now...
Time will tell if halves (or any other coins) will be available at banks without fees in 5-10 years from now. I will ask some of my friends at banks, etc if they have a better idea of exactly how many halves exist in large areas like Detroit, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta...
Let's enjoy this while it still lasts!

Can you take a picture of a box please. To show what it looks like and where the numbers are?
