Hi everyone Ive been collecting coins for a while but I have a question about something, please excuse me for my ignorance but isnt a Philidelphia Wrapper supposed to contain Philidelphia coins? And not Denver? Very Confused on this and just wondering why my Phili wrap contains William Henry Harrison Gold dollars with the Denver mint on the rim? Is there a difference in The phili coin amd the Denver coins? Woukd they be just a mistake at the wrapper company or are they Phili coins with the wrong mintmark? Is that even possible?
Is it possible for you to take a photo of the full print on the wrapper? That doesn't look like a Mint wrapper to me. Chris
I have the exact same roll type ,the wrapper indicates that the roll was made by Spring and sons, possibly for sell through mint, although I got mine from the local bank. So no mint error, just insignificant post mint wrapping. I would never had noticed myself. String would have no checking to prevent it. jim
In the past, I had purchased hundreds of rolls of nickels, quarters, half dollars and dollars from the Mint, and all of them had special wrappers that identified the mintmark for each denomination. Chris
We see the final "G" in Harrisburg. (The place where I is.) We see "& son", which indicates N.F. String & Son, located about 4-5 blocks from where I is all over again. I also see the William Henry Harrison name. What I do not see is any indication of mint. Is it there? I dunno. But N.F. String & Son is ALSO a provider of rolling SERVICES, not just rolling machines, and they CAN contract from anyone anywhere.
nf string is a private coin rolling company that gets bags of coins from federal banks to roll and be distributed to their bank branches. so the federal bank orders coins from the mint, get sent bags of denver coins, who in turn sends them to nf string for rolling, who in turn sends them to smaller bank branches, who in turn distributes them to their customers, bottom line, perfectly normal to get denver coins in nf string rolls....
It says its from Sorry its taken me so long to reply the wrapper says N.F. String & Sons Inc. Harrisburg, PA., USA
If I put my running shoes on, I could be knocking on their door in 6 minutes or so. My election polling place is next door to N.F. String & Sons. Rough neighborhood.
Yes I think I understand now so techniquely they are wrapped in Pennsylvania. I guess where I got confused is every time I have purchased a roll from a certain bank they have been phili so yeah I look like an idiot now lol sorry all anf Thank you for correcting me.
No, they are not necessarily wrapped in PA. NF String sells their wrapping paper to anyone that's buying. They could have been wrapped anywhere, by anyone.
