You'll want to scroll down a couple of posts for all relative photos before guessing it seems....

I used different lighting for the coins, FYI.

Coin #1: patina is hurting the luster, but looks clean of contact marks. MS62 for lack of luster.

Coin #2: lighting makes it very difficult to judge. I'll say XF. Looks like some wear.

Were these commems notoriously weak strikes?

Luster is all there on coin #1, I lit for details and color, not luster. Here's another shot, different lighting, shows the luster. The first set of pics is truer to the color, as it has a nice toning to it.

Your honor, I'd like to change my plea! I'll go 65 on Coin #1.

Amazing how different lighting can completely change the look of a coin.

The first one looks like a 64 to me. Seems to have a good amount of chatter in the fields on the obverse.

The second one looks like XF-45 to AU-50 with possible PVC contamination.

Those monster Maines seem to be few and far between. Luckily for me, I'm not after monster toners! :panda:

Agreed. But considering I live in Maine. And like toners it makes sense

What about the York? I like the reverse of the York, reminds me of Lincoln Log forts as a kid, and those little plastic cowboys and Indians.

    So it's been long enough...

As for Coin #2, The interesting thing is the lack of wear. I did an overlay of this coin on top of the 65, and there is pretty much no wear on it. The luster is not there though, so I'm thinking about sending it in to be conserved? It's somewhat of a confusing coin to me. It has been stored in a cellophane wrapper in a small manila coin envelope since probably about the 50's (that's the date on the other commems from the owner), and it says the owner bought it in 1925.

If nothing else, I'm going to have my guy at my LCS take a look at it.
