My (Very short) Coin collecting timeline

    Note- Im 14-15 yo
    Summer 2016- Was given 10 1930s wheat cents, spent them

    Spring Break 2017- Got a roll of pennies to look through them. Full roll of BU 2015s

    Summer 2017- Used pocket change to find dates, Laid dates out on a desk

    August 2017- First coin show. Bought alot of bargain bin picks

    Fall 2017- Bought random coins when I felt like it

    Winter 2017- Focused on filling folders

    Christmas 2017- First red book and metal detector

    April- First Commem. I will now focus on modern commems and currency.

    Glad you got the bug. Our old US currency has some real beautiful artistry. I'm dipping my toe into that area.

    If you want to see some outstanding US Currency up for auction, visit Heritage Auctions. They have a large auction offering centered around the upcoming Central States Numismatic Society Coin and Currency Show.

    I went last year. I spent all day looking at dealer inventories. I had some great conversations with many of them. I submitted some coins to NGC for re-holder. I didn't buy one coin. I was quite proud of myself for that. I didn't see any must have's. The only thing I was a bit disappointed in were the exhibits. There weren't enough of them and they weren't that interesting to me.
