Hello everyone, Well I have to say I did it! My very first purchase and have to admit I was nervous, cause I'm not really sure if what you see is what you get. Well having said this, these 1983 S quarters caught my eye and they were cheap so I bought two of them. I do like the way they look, just your thoughts
    Thanks

Nice n' Frosty :) Too bad about the haze? in the fields. I wonder if an acetone bath would help that?

Okay, have to ask I'm not really good at understanding the coin language yet so what exactly is the haze in the fields? Could it be that these pictures were taken in the plastic cover?

Possibly a haze through the package but proof coins will develop a haze inside the package depending upon the environment they were stored in. The plastic is permeable.

Congrats! As mentioned, the haze on the obv is a problem. I can’t tell if there’s a cameo effect on the rev, but that’s what I’d expect from a modern proof coin. Better pictures would help.

If you like these proof quarters look for them in silver composition. Little more bang for the buck. 1983 did not have silver proofs.
