    Here is Tyrian "shekel" for less than three digits.
    Seleukid Kingdom: Antiochos VII Euergetes AR Tetradrachm
    Tyre Mint 138-129 BC
    Obverse: Diademed and draped bust right
    Reverse: Eagle standing left on prow left; palm frond behind; to left, monogram above club surmounted by Tyre monogram; to right, monogram above BΠP (date); monogram between legs

    this one was "cheap", not sure how rare it really is however.

    We make the point all the time. We each have a choice when we find a rare coin that fits our collecting interest in less than perfect condition. You made the choice I would have made. Perhaps in the next fifty years you will have a chance to upgrade but, meanwhile, your specialty collection of Hadrian is better than it would have been had you passed it by. Congratulations. I would not have bought it because it is Hadrian and I am not a specialist in his coins. I still enjoy a number of coins that I bought years ago and have not upgraded yet. From the last millennium and not upgraded (maybe will be, maybe not):

    I bought what I thought was a beat-up Vespasian... but after trying to attribute it, the legends weren't matching up. It turns out it's a Vitellius.

    It's ugly... but since I have no current plans to buy a nice Vitellius... it was pleasant surprise. ($17)

    That is a very good Vitellius portrait showing flab rather than the muscle of Vespasian. Nice coin!

    I can't make heads or tails out of the reverse inscription on the OP. Can anyone explain what it refers to?
