We make the point all the time. We each have a choice when we find a rare coin that fits our collecting interest in less than perfect condition. You made the choice I would have made. Perhaps in the next fifty years you will have a chance to upgrade but, meanwhile, your specialty collection of Hadrian is better than it would have been had you passed it by. Congratulations. I would not have bought it because it is Hadrian and I am not a specialist in his coins. I still enjoy a number of coins that I bought years ago and have not upgraded yet. I bought what I thought was a beat-up Vespasian... but after trying to attribute it, the legends weren't matching up. It turns out it's a Vitellius. It's ugly... but since I have no current plans to buy a nice Vitellius... it was pleasant surprise.
