What truly amazes me is over the 9/10 years I have been a member, we have had 10 and 12 year olds who #1 Were polite and respectful of senior members, # 2 Were able to post a question using English grammer, # 3 knew their place not posting thread after thread on nonsense topics, posting for lack of other words just stupid answers, repeating the answers of other members be they correct or incorrect. And most of all making me wonder these two points... #1 Where are thier parents and why aren't they watching their childs time spent on the internet.
And second why aren't we paying teachers more? I truly don't mind paying taxes for services like education however what I see posting in here what a waste of money!
You have 2 here whom need spend more time developing social skills as well book learning then posting in a adult coin forum.
Both #1 are inmature for their ages . #2 Then as not even junior members trying to dictate what forum topic there should be.
Maybe this message will sink in " It is far better to sit quietly look stupid...then open ones mouth and remove all doupt!"

@Mike Drop, FWIW I'm thinking of getting into collecting commemoratives myself and so I'm starting to do some research on them and see if it really interests me. I was looking at some of the older commemoratives in my Red book and it sparked some interest. I'm trying to decide what I'd like to concentrate on for collecting. It's a toss up between this and wildlfe themed coins.

  5. @Mike Drop If you have specific questions on any modern issues, @cladking is the resident expert.

  6. Sounds like an introduction at a USMCA (US Mint Coinaholics Anonymous) meeting. :D:)

The kind of questions you want to ask is what determines who the person is that you want to talk to. So the only way to even determine who you want to talk to is for you to first ask your questions.

It seems that what you want is something like this, if you want to talk about errors you'd talk to Fred, if you wanted to talk about ancients you'd talk to Doug. But you want to talk about modern commems and Proof sets. Well, I don't know of a single person who would be similar to Doug and Fred in that area. And part of the reason for that is because it's such a broad area. I'm sure Fred could tell you about errors for them, and maybe even varieties, but again what is it that you want to know ?

I mean I collected Mint and Proof Sets for almost 40 years, and modern commems too. And yeah I know a bit about them, but there are also many things about them I do not know - such as varieties and errors because this things never mattered to me. Nor do I know much about any of those from the most recent years. Am I an expert on them ? Far from it ! But I might know whatever it is you want to know, then again I might not.

So one way or another, you simply need to ask your questions - and somebody will probably be able to answer them.

True, Sam knows more about moderns than most folks do. But it still depends on what you want to know.

I prefer to do my business and comments privately. I assumed
the OP wanted a contact that he could contact privately. Not
every topic is suitable to public discussion. I also don't want
to hear others private conversations while they scream into
their cellphones. Texting is the least obtrusive for that sort
    of communication.

I think Peter might like members to stick with the emojis provided as they are the size intended. All you need is a clown spammer that fills threads with a near-full page size ones. Emojis are always interpreted in a worse case scenario, even if a member thinks it is funny, and a few of them might be interpreted as scamming.
    thanks Jim

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

Umm, did the OP ever ask his question? As a participant in the Mint forum in Philly, I'm a little plugged in on modern issues.

It strikes me as kind of odd that someone would obsess so much on "who and how", and not get down to "what".
