I was casually upgrade-searching for the 1860 H10C in my 7070, and found this example. I zoomed in and spotted what looked like an RPD, so I set a snipe and snagged it. I had been waiting to get this in hand to see for myself what was going on and here it is: I'd really appreciate some attribution help on the variety- it appears to match this on NGC's variety-plus site (1860/1--0 VP-001) more closely than the RPD I saw on Heritage, but I don't have Flynn's book and can't find a digital copy for sale to crosscheck any other varieties. Nice cherry pick it is an RPD -001 V-3b Breen 3099 1860/1860 repunched 1 south seen at base repunched 8 north seen above the left lower and upper loops repunched 6 north seen above the right middle ,repunched 0 north seen above the top and bottom. Xf $60 Au 90 ms 63 300. Fyi the 0 over 1 has been disproven even thought it is still listed. The digits do not match up to make the 0/1
Thank you sir!! Much appreciated. Yeah, the NGC example sure doesn't look like a 1 beneath it. Thanks! ...the pictures don't show it but there's a solid amount of luster left on this. Considering an acetone bath but since she's clearly seen quite a bit of circulation I'm hesitant to even do that.
I would not do anything to the coin. Acetone is going to bring out tiny marks that will take away from the natural look it has now. A dip is going to kill the toning. It's too pretty to mess with.

My thoughts as well. I don't think acetone would remove the dark stuff and would probably just remove some crust and reveal more marks as you mentioned so I think I'll put her in the album and call it good. Any thoughts on the grade? I'm thinking VF35 with a shot at 40.
Edit: I'm seeing a lot of different technical grading standards for Seated half dimes, and much revolving around the shield LIBERTY, which I thought was only a secondary consideration for grade? From these it looks like mid-VF or so as Paddy said. I'd love to see the criteria TPG's use.
That's a better image then before I'm still in the vf 35 range but definitely a nice specimen and cool variety. Oh btw these are addicting..... you may find yourself looking at and buying more! When you reach over a hundred or so it's definitely time for professional help.
Nice find! Sometimes diligence pays off. I would keep it original- no dip or acetone. Beautiful coin.
Yep, she's in the album now. Glad I didn't jump the gun on the acetone.... there's definitely no "undo" button on coins! I'm still fairly new to the hobby, but one thing I don't see mentioned enough is the risk of it negatively altering the coin. Learned that the hard way and I'm pretty careful now.
