Sorry to say it's not a proof. If it makes you feel better, I often have the same experience of really believing I have a great coin only to find out from other people it's not. No shame in that, it's called owner's bias and has been known to add 5 points to the grade of your own coins :)

Agreed not a proof. I have sent several 1981s proofs off to NGC thinking may be type 2. The four i cent all came back 1981 S Type 2 PF 67 or 68. So that IMO is also one of the things you need to consider when trying to find the value of

When it comes to coins, YouTube is utter trash. Completely disregard it. It will rot your mind and expectations.

Just so I understand correctly, some YouTube schmuck is claiming 1980 "wide AM" cents to be worth thousands? Seriously?

I would LOVE to see this one. Please post the link.

That said, since you're new you have to make a choice. Either stick with YouTube clowns and exist in a state of permanent numismatic ignorance, or ignore that site altogether and give yourself a chance.

    The choice is yours.

Yep, the "dude" with the backwards baseball cap visuals make the choice s-o-o-o-o-o-o-o difficult! :troll:

Apparently it's a rather difficult decision for many. ;)

In another fairly recent thread I listed a number of examples of complete crap found in videos posted by one of the more popular channels. Fair enough, right? Well, instead of appreciating my efforts to educate, another new someone thought it best to take issue with my labeling the guy a clown. Go figure.

As they say, ignorance is bliss....

I agree with you 100%. I'm glad you took my post the way it was intended. For some reason, I get overly sarcastic when reading the "What's it Worth" thread.

Understood, and as sad as it is to say, it's often hard not to embrace sarcasm when reading such threads as it's one of the few ways to protect our sanity.

Oh, and had I misinterpreted, I could only hope someone would have been kind enough to slap me. ;)
