I learned on a manual transmission and my first two cars were manual, but I haven't driven one, other than one loaner, since 1988. I once had a rental car that had a "sequential shifter", like an Indy Car, and THAT was fun.
Sorry for all the BS responses. It is evident you are new to coin collecting and the responses should have taken that into account. Regardless of all the 'Super Coin Expert' responses you got, I hope you continue. There's still a lot of good guys out there who will help you learn. Good luck
I'd say most of us are "good guys" who will help newcomers learn. As Doug explained (at positively -jeffB-like length), we sometimes get a bit impatient when the newcomers follow the ever-so-familiar "but mine MIGHT be different" script. The script where someone signs up as a new member to apologize for the behavior of existing members? The jury's still out, I think. Welcome to CoinTalk!
I guess that you must have missed the title to the Thread was changed, plus the wording to start the thread. The OP got good response's to start this thread, And the OP started conflict, Everyone here that has responded to the thread is more than willing to answer, and share their knowledge. Welcome to Ct. I see that this is your first day.
Apparently it was worth joining, rather than just lurking, just to lecture us. I don't know about you, but now I just feel "dirty and ashamed".
That's a very well struck 1922 business strike. By very well struck, I mean in the top 10 percentile. If it were a proof, then the reverse would look like the 1921 Peace's reverse. Some of the tiara "spikes" would be thicker and lower in height, i.e. the one next to "E" would only be as high as the bottom of the letter, and not extend north of it.
Honestly, I thought there was too much sarcasm, too much sensitivity but a lot of comedy in this thread. BTW, you can get some outstanding information if you use Google well, and will likely find more information than in an encyclopedia.
But the information in an encyclopedia is more likely to be correct. EDIT: I have a complete 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica at home. For the information which was known at the time it is absolutely the best source there is. Articles are ten times longer and more thorough than current issues.
It depends on the encyclopedia and that information is old. also, are they reputable companies that publish encyclopedia material?
Just like any hobby. I get emails from people who have bought clarinets at flee markets and ask how much they could flip them for. many don't like the concept that the $100 they spent is about how much they could sell it for. They want info that it is something much more valuable.
Yeah, I see your point. Maybe we should coddle them a little bit more. We should feed them some bs and nonsense, then just send them to the wolves. We, forgot it's all about there feelings. Telling them the truth would just be wrong! Ya see Steven, we could tell most of these folks in the nicest, beat around the bush kind of way, and they would still go crying to MOMMY! I got a 40 year old brother that does the same thing, It's a no win situation. Don't you think that the truth is the best policy?
Since "politically correct" is a term that is almost exclusively used by those who emphasize that they are not "PC", the answer is No. Christian
Roy Pho, There are rude people everywhere and, this site is no exception. Please don't make this the reason to leave our normally great site with wonderful people. Asking questions is the only way we learn. And no, it is not a proof.
