I don't entertain the thought of actually finding one.

    Can you say "money laundering?"

I'm thinking that "the highest-priced coin auction on eBay" probably isn't the favored vehicle for a nice, quiet wash.

Especially not with easily traceable coins. There’s about a 0 percent chance it’s money laundering.

    Go to ebay, type in:
    Saint Gaudens
and sort by "price + shipping highest first"
    and you'll find it.

Not all big money deals involve some sort of chicanery. It’s unfair to even suggest such without evidence.

Exactly, that would pretty much be the dumbest way to do it and really have no idea why it was suggested

Who are all these people that have the ability to make legit bids on Ebay for 3 million, 4 million and 5 million dollars?
I still say it is a publicity stunt for a future Heritage (type) auction.

It very well could be down to 2 maybe 3 bidders and you could probably search the top PCGS registry sets and point out who's likely bidding. My guess is one of the bidders is Simpson looking for upgrades.

Could it also be an auction house looking to sell them off individually in a future auction? I'm thinking Legend.
