I just found this car in this parking lot. Did this happen at the factory or is it PMD? I'm just starting out, so please don't yell at me if this question is naive. I'm just trying to learn from all of you experts who are much smarter than I. Oh, and if this is a factory error, what's it worth? Thanks, and God Bless you. I just love this hobby! :)

Buy it at auction. dip and clean and a little putty, it will sell for 1/3 the original with a salvage title.

    That's definitely a manufacturing error.

It can be easily confused with road rash or some immoveable object jumping in front of it whilst moving.

But if you look closely at the emblem on the front bumper you will see that it is slightly bent. Though this could have happened while hitting something, this is a rare error where the torsional strength of the bend of the emblem caused the entire front end to stress from this extremely high torsional energy until it just burst from unable to stabilize the torsional energy. The subsequent twisting/implosion makes it look like road rash, but I guarantee you, it is a manufacturing error.

I suggest You get a Salvage or Irrepairable Title for it and sell it on eBay.

It looks like a broadstrike to me. These are very common. So much so, that they often diminish the value.

Yes, that's right, "Post Factory Damage," my mistake. Like I said, I'm just starting out in this hobby.
Horsing around, again, I see. BTW, let the record reflect, I'm a thoroughbred stallion, not a mare.

BTW, if any of you need to see the reverse side, I'll see if I can get the Bobcat over here and turn it upside-down.

Looks a little like my '83 Firebird the night it died. I got t-boned by some drunk running a red light and spun about 540 degrees before bouncing off a light standard.

looks a lot like my Grand Marquis except mine was t-boned on the drivers side by a police SUV with a crash bar. Caved the side in 22 inches. Two days in the hospital, three broken ribs and 3 weeks of missed work but I lived to tell about it so all's good.
