1982 d penny small date

Is this the right one

It's a small date. It's from the Denver mint.
Can't tell definitively from the picture if it is copper (3.1g) or copper plated zinc (2.5g).
If it's copper (3.1g), then it's the one. If not, then it's 1 cent worth of coinage.

Looks like a copper plated zinc though. So I vote "Not the One".

I will also add that there is almost no way that it weighed in at 3.14. Pictures of both sides of the coin would be nice, as well as one of it on your scale.
Though I don't know if it's worth asking for since these posts are a dime a dozen - week after week - and not a single one pans out to be anything besides common cent.

I wish we could get more posts about real errors and varieties as opposed to all the constant junk. I try to post things when I find them - actual errors and varieties - but they get covered by the garbage by people who post their "million dollar coin", find out it's not, and then never post again and never bring anything to the forum.

In what way was he rude to you? He was stating trends of the forum and telling his opinion about them, not even targeting you specifically. We need pictures of the coin on the scale and pictures of the reverse. IMO, the coin does not look copper. To add, there is only 1 copper 1982 D Small Date known to exist, which is why we are skeptical.

 

All you have to do is watch all the other threads being posted by people thinking they'll win it rich by finding a penny on the sidewalk.

If you didn't get a coin from a family stash stored away for decades then it's probably a normal cent.

Also, don't use voice to text without punctuation. When someone reads over that we just ignore it because for what may be legible by you, may not be legible by someone else.

 

Instead of being schmucks and jumping all over someone new yet seemingly sincere, perhaps we should place blame where blame is due by actually addressing the likely cause of such questions. Is the obvious really that hard to grasp? 15 posts and not a single one thought it wise to ask this young lady why she's asking or where she learned of this?

Come on, folks... there's nothing wrong with tearing into some idiot here only to cause grief, but doing so simply because someone uninformed came here to ask a question is utter BS.

Maybe, just maybe, with a little patience, understanding, and remembering that there was a time when we too were not the very pictures of knowledgeable numismatic perfection (har, har), perhaps we could be of some help in welcoming someone new into this hobby. Perhaps we could try to educate her as to the preponderance of misinformation out there, and in the process possibly warn others who may happen to read this. By attacking those smart enough to come here for help instead of rushing off to eBay to collect their millions, we're only compounding the problem and leaving these folks with few options other than the YouTube, Ken Potter, etc schmoes already responsible for the nonsense. Just a little food for thought....

Go to pcgs.com and pay to have your coin authenticated. Then go sell it for big bucks.

Coming here for help is not necessarily an indication of being smart. In a lot of cases it is a sign of laziness and a craving for instant gratification.

 

OP said they "think" it's real, they didn't say it IS real. That's why they're asking.

When we consider the entire statement instead of editing out the inconvenient parts, it's certainly smarter than the alternative.
