    I really like tokens like this, they are a great opportunity to learn some history.
    I had never heard of any Pre-Civil War prohibition.

    It's not that rare, I have one as well.

    The first real prohibition movements in this country started in the 1830s.A really good book on the subject is Last call: The rise and fall of Prohibition by Daniel Okrent. Fascinating subject. Used copies are available for around $7.

    No. But I can't tell what it is. My first thought was aluminum, but it's too heavy.

    An old friend of mine called it base metal. I don't even know what that is.

    Looks like silver gilt or plated copper, seems some is missing and some worn.

    I don't know where my pieces at the moment, can the two of you get weights for your medals? That might tell us if the second one is silver or just silvered copper.
