Hi all, Still learning and need some assistance to id these types of doubles. I've seen some posts where they look like DD but instead they're machine doubles. so are the 82 P and 92 P below actual DDs? One last thing, need a fresh set of eyes on the AM as well, the 92 seems a little wide, but I've seen pre 91s close like that too. on the 92 obverse it appears to be seen around GOD and possibly the date. Reverse around United States and maybe around the ONE at the bottom. 82 obverse, is the date and GOD.
The 92 appears to be a WAM IMO but let others take a look I'm still alittle green my self, As far as the 82 IMO appears to be DDD ( die deterioration doubling). IMO Welcome to CT Dave
The 1992 is also DDD - Die Deterioration Doubling common in Copper Plated Zinc Cents. It's a result of a worn die strike. Nothing to do with true Hub Doubling.
thanks, appreciate the input... finding actual errors is pretty tough, thought i may have had one here, oh well I'll get one eventually.
@Hi! I'm the car guy! There is a difference between Mint Errors and Mint Varieties. If you are looking for a Doubled Die coin that would be a Variety. Here are 2 websites that can teach you the difference - For Most Mint Errors and some Varieties - http://www.error-ref.com For Varieties - http://doubleddie.com Also.. You just started. Sometimes you will find something after a long search. So be patient.. It took me 31 years a get all of these Mint Errors and Varieties! I have thousands more raw in albums.
3.1, but since I'm on the 82 subject, i may have another that's even better, I'll update... around left side of Lincoln's head... there's something there, the memorial maybe? and there's a bunch of doubling going on in this other 1982..., im not sure but im thinking i can see a shadow of a mint mark mark under the date, could just be age starting to show through... on the reverse there's clearly Lincoln's bust imo, but 82 was a wacky year. this cent also weighs 3.1.
this one looks like a die break this one has die clashes in the bays this one look like a straight clip this image is hard to make out
yeah under the date is like a faint either maybe D or S or nothing since there's so much going on in this coin.. It is there, but it's very hard to capture... this is the best i could do...
yeah i saw that too, but yeah got bored sitting around so i played with the filters and i finally got it to show as i see it.. it's not a small date copper D so it doesn't matter but it got me thru the day.. now for my last question. seems in good shape considering it's 35 years old, but these types of things aren't worth getting graded are they?
It could be a drop letter error . After looking at this image, it could be part of a " R " from one of the obverse devices .
I see a thumb pushing the bottom of the 8 and a skull to the left of it. You guys ate too much Easter candy!
