Can anybody please help me identify the variety of this 1830 cent? I searched the net for references and found some, but bot enough to help me identify the Newcomb number. (i have a Breen book for 1793-1814 cents), but do not have the Newcomb book. Sorry for the poor quality of my pictures. I jus do not seem to get the lighting condtions right (or may be its time to get a new camera). The most visible diagnostic is an inner full circle die break which goes almost all the way around the periphery on the obverse. Thanks Eduard
My guess is N-1 - I can't really see the coin, but it looks like left edge of curl over left side of curve of O, the point of the 6th star is right. In the remarks column it says "inner line near border, broken below "18".
Eduard and Mark, How about these edited pictures of the coin! Hopefully they will help in identifying the Variety! Frank
Yes they did help - I can see the break in the outer ring around the coin. I am convinced it is an N-1 now.
