I've got a few bids in, hoping I will win a couple. This time I made relatively high bids on some underpriced coins hopefully that will deter last minute sniping. Last time I had to adjust my bids several times, but ended up winning all 4 of the bids I made.

Anyone else looking forward to the action tomorrow? There is kind of a thrill to the competition.

Is this the ballplayer? Or completely unrelated?

No it's not the ballplayer it's Frank Robinson of Albany, NY who runs ancient and world coin auctions. His website is fsrcoin.com and he is a retired judge.

This one's my first time bidding in a FSR auction. All my bids except one have been shot down, and with mortgage payment and other bills looming, I'm not going to re-enter the fray.

If I win that one coin I was still high bidder on as of my last email from Frank, great. It'll pinch my cashflow situation a little, but I can do it. If I don't win, that's OK, too.

It's a silver coin with a lady on it. :)

Aw, what the heck. Since I'm totally fine with competition (and win or lose would be equally OK in this situation), and I see no need for it to be a state secret, here's the lot I'm bidding on.

Not sure if that's a chip off the flan at 6:00 on the obverse, or if that's just a jpeg artifact or pixel glitch from the circle cropping tool used on the photo. I'm confident the coin looks much better than the picture.

I think @Mat has been a subtle influence in making me want a Roman Imperial lady in my collection again.

(And yeah, Mat, some of those billon tets have twitched my antennae, too. There's a Nero tet with a galley reverse I like, but I haven't seen an example that really cried out to me just yet.)

Hard to tell if it's a chip, could be. A nice example though.

I've eyed those Nero/Gally Tets too but others Tets have won my $, like Vitellius

I'm not bidding on anything, never do. I scavage over the no-bid list.

I was aware of the VAuctions thing tomorrow, but you guys are talking about something different. Anyone have a link?

Edit: Nevermind, I see ACH provided it up there.

There are three sales closing tomorrow of which I found zero interest in two and less than usual in the third. I do want something in that one so:
    Good idea!

Yup! I missed out big time in the Nomos auction, so I'm putting in some very serious bids on Frank's. Hope to come out with something really nice ;).

My mind is absolutely blown thinking how well that survived the centuries.

You should spend some more time on this side. Mind blown on a regular basis over here!

It's a mind-blowing concept, for sure, but some coins survived even more centuries than that, in choice Mint State.
