    Gentlemen,
"I went and done it" (as you say in the US). This is an ACG graded 1794 cent i have recently bought. I have been attempting to identify it with help of my Breen book, but i am not sure so far. There are many types which seem so similar. Not so easy.
At the moment i only have these pictures to go by. Can the experts please assist me in identifying the variety? I hope the pictures are good enough for this. You opinions on grade are also very welcome.
    Thank you very, as always.

Thank you guys. Let us forget for a moment this is in an ACG holder. It does not appear fake to me either, not that i am an expert. But it has the "right" look
Going by the sellers description it is not corroded, but dark.
I do have the option to return it if necesssary.I paid "VG10" money for it, per red book.

    VG money?
Get it to ANACS asap, that seems to have been a steal!

My guess is a solid Very Good with some minor damage (small holes)

In spite of the apparent problems, that is one high grade coin.
My pure estimate would be a VF, net grade= ?

No, I need a SHARP photo. In focus with no JPG compression, preferably...Mike

To me it looks like a S-41 - just because of the reverse die crack.

    How about these edited pics!

I do believe that it is a higher grade like Treas said! I do not know which Variety it is though.

In that blown up picture, I don't see a 9. I would like to see the edge writing.

    Eduard,

Try comparing to this coinfacts link. Other details are too dark for me to see on the coin.

looking at the red book it appears to be a (1794) head of 1794. also looks very nice good detail for over 200 years old

Well, thank you very much to all! Yes, it does seem to be the S-41 variety.
I should have the coin in hand today or tomorrow and can then examine it more closely. I was looking for the large reverse die break in the pictures in the Breen book, but could not find any pictures showing it (probably an advanced die break progression?). Anyhow thanks. It the coin looks halfway decent in-hand, i will keep it to add to my large cent collection. It will keep my S-24, and S-71 company.
    Thanks again guys,
    Eduard

my estimation/opinion of grade if this piece in the photo provided was authentic vg tooled and heavily corroded.

sheldon variety...it's a fake (and a poorly made one at that)...or you have stumbled upon a new die marriage.

you could probably find an authentic problem free EAC graded example in good to very good for the same price this piece is being offered at.

i would visit your public library and pick up a few books on early coppers...or buy 'em online...they usually pay for themselves in the money saved or wisely invested in to your next purchase.

edit to add: breen is probably not the best reference to use when attributing ECs

Hi CappedBustDimes, can you please be more explicit as to why you think this is a fake? Is it that this obverse does not match the reverse?
I am really interested in knowing.
    Thanks,
