Mostly guessing, but the 30's and 31's look natural as well as most later ones. I wonder if the 70-s small "S" is the real deal.
"THE COINS CONTAINED IN THE ALBUM APPEAR TO BE UNCIRCULATED AND PROOF ISSUES. THE "WHEATIES" ALL HAVE GREAT DETAIL AND HAVE EVEN STRIKES, BUT SOME OF THE COINS HAVE TONING OR TARNISHING, WHICH I BELIEVE IS THE RESULT OF IMPROPER CLEANING, BUT ALOT OF THEM ARE ORIGINAL LOOKING." I guess you'll see won't you Jack but I have to wonder what is "proper" cleaning. Gut feeling is that you probably did get a deal but not one I would have risked $250 on. Keep us posted.
Well, we'll see. I'm thinking I did pretty good. I'll post pics when it arrives as usual. Still waiting on the TPG on the 09-S I picked up last week. Fingers crossed.
The fact that they are nearly all dipped and have started to retone badly in the dansco (the wheaties that is).
This is like poker....I raised all in. Let the cards read themselves. I'll post actual pics as soon as they arrive.
Unfortunately, many of the better date coins look cleaned to me. I doubt that the 1970-S small date is actually a small date, as this variety seems to commonly be misattributed in my experience.
Set arrived today. The 21-S, 24-D and 31-S are all high end but pretty scrubbed, the 24,27,30,32-D and 34 on page 2 are original and sweet. Rest of set is original except 39,39-S,42-S,48-S are all cleaned. 70-S small date is incorrectly attributed, it is a lg date as you thought. Overall, this should part out well. I will list the cleaned coins on Sunday night and keep the rest. Some real nice beautys, toned 35-D, 38, and 40-D are as pretty as any Lincoln I have ever seen. 60-D lg date is also scrubbed. I'll get around to posting pics later tonight. Did I steal it? NO, would I buy it again? YES, in a minute.
You should have no problems selling the 21-S, 24-D and 31-S - $150 or more. That is a real nice 24. You would be surprised how much they go for. I would think that you could get $50 for that if you sell it.
