That's been in someone piggy bank for quite some time.

 

Keeping with the red Lincoln theme, here’s mine pulled from a CWR yesterday that was half Wheaties & half 1959-D through 1962-D. Lots of other red Memorials in this roll but this was the best one.

 

Has not one sly cherrypicker offered you 2 cents for it yet? (2 cents shipped, of course)

 

Here's one of mine I found in a cent tray, at the loco gas station .

 

I'm seeing way more than the usual number of surprisingly stout older cents lately. I don't know why. Older guys from the roll hoarding era who are dying off is my best guess.

 

This is what I collect the most...old modern coins in "pretty shiny" state :

 

I have one Dansco album set aside for "found" cents. No mint set pulls, no individually purchased coins. The only type I put in there are circulation finds and loose coins from bulk auction lots.

 

Those all look like error coins to me....oh wait, sorry, I just came from a newbie thread & my mind is still foggy!

It is exciting to find such nice older cents in circulation, & I agree with Kurts comment (#6) above.

And let me apologize now, if you see I am starting to ramble. My wife finally retired on Friday, & it's just starting to kick in that.............

 

@lordmarcovan - I think what you have there is the rare 'inverted date 1961' cent! Can't be sure from the pics, but my guts says it is!

 

Got this metal detecting, so the condition was surprising. And it looks better in hand.

Well I didn't dig it up out of the soil, it was just under some wood chips.
I very rarely/ almost never, lie.

 

Wow... You must have been detecting in a climate controlled bank vault! I never seen anything that sweet come out of the ground. Nice!

 

Aha! I see I should have read a bit further prior to posting.... You would make a perfect fishing partner.

 

I found it metal detecting. I don't always have to dig a hole to find something.
Sometimes you can just brush away some wood chips at the surface.
I am done with this thread.

 

It's all going to my daughter, whether she keeps them or gift them is up to her. I'm also putting together a few sets of 2010 to 2017 shiny zincoins, dimes and quarters. I plan to put them in little jars and bury them somewhere wherever I travel and hopefully some future coin hunters find them years from now still in good shape and get a nice shiny surprise. Hopefully, the zinc outlasts the find lol.

 

A few months ago my husband and I got these, plus a silver certificate bill in change:

We do find a wheatie every so often, but the silver certificate was a surprise. There is a retirement home nearby and I suspect that the 'grands' coin stashes are the source.
