Incomplete Plated Cent?

    I would say zinc rot also known as PMD (post mint damage) environmental damage . IMO

    Interesting find.. It's not zinc rot of any kind.
    Could be a good candidate but I'm not 100% sure.

    I would expect a much thinner plate where it is showing rather than an apparently thicker one, Since these are electroplated in large numbers. I think that it may be a copper cent which was electroplated incompletely with zinc.

    I did weigh it 2.475g. Slightly lower than it should be.

    The range for the zinc/copper cent is +/- .13g. so from 2.37 - 2.63 is acceptable weight.

    Based on the photos, I'd
    agree it's a partially plated
    planchet.
