Great topic. I have some coins too add. Mark Newby farthing featuring st.Patrick. Sorry about the condition of its flip. Mark Newby actually was born close to me in north east england before he fled to Ireland in fear of religious persecution before heading to NJ Here is a selection of mu gun money collection I always try to get may 1690 as it's 300 years before I was born. One of my favourite Irish coins/ Tokens the bank of Ireland 6 shillings just like the Bank of England dollar over struck on Spanish/American 8 reales coins. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here are a few proofs, mostly very recent and apologies for some very bad photos where the camera is as clear as the coins The best two photos weren't taken by me! Proof 10s coin of 1966: Proof 6s Bank of Ireland token of 1804 inscribed "M.A. Iles to Miss Stuart": £1 UN coin of 1995: 2010 €15 - resurrecting the old Percy Metcalfe halfcrown design, with added foal: The 2011 €15, with the old florin design: The final issue of the series - the €15 of 2012, with the wolfhound from the sixpence: St. Brendan the Navigator: Mestrovic's Girl with Harp design finally made it onto a coin in 2007: Millennium proof pound in silver: ATB, Aidan.
Nothing special about mine. Just pocket change from my wife's trip to Ireland with me from last year.
A September 1689 gun money shilling, ex Jonathan Kern. My birthday falls on the turning point between March 1689 and March 1690. If I had nothing else to collect I guess I could get one of each “month” and say one was minted on my birthday. Or St. Patrick’s Day. I also have a 1953 threepence in my collection somewhere, and all the decimal designs. Now I just need a sixpence. I like the threepence and sixpence’s designs the best out of all the designs for some odd reason.
