Well, the highlights of my currency searching this past week. First a 1969 $10 FRN. Its been circulated, but at least it's relatively clean. Then there is this sorry little $2 bill I rescued from the shredders of the FRB. A 1953 $2 Legal Tender missing a fairly large piece. For years, I haven't come across a Legal Tender and now I find 3 in just the past few weeks.
Unfortunately no. Got it from a bank for face value, kind of a take it or leave it situation. The teller was almost going to pull it out assuming I wouldn't want it. I made it very clear (in pleasant terms of course) that I would take all their mutilated just for the pleasure of searching through it. I have one specific bank branch where I aggregate all my mutilated in straps of 100 notes. They are much more willling to work with me since I try to make sure they aren't stuck with odd amounts of mutilated in their vault (especially $2 bills since they rarely get enough to even make a full strap).
