Penny with a parachute stamp

Hello guys and gals, i cant seem to find this penny anywhere online. So any help would be great. I just want to know if its something special or just another penny. I got it a few years ago in change from a store. Thanks for taken the time to read my post.

That is a counterstamp that happened after it left the mint. Worth a cent.

 

It is Counter-stamped. A novelty cent sold or given away usually to promote something.

 

Bet a dollar to a donut that cent was in one of our nations finest paratroopers pockets at one time. And as others have said, that image was added after leaving the mint.

 

Could have been a paratrooper school , Thousands of folks take the jump every year it may have been something given away.

 

There are lots of different designs stamped on cents like this. I saw a site online where you can still order them made.

There are guys who collect these counterstamps. I once saw an entire exhibit of them.

I have a counter stamp cent too....It's not like yours or the other's that were posted, and I forget off hand what is stamped on mine,
(now I am gonna have to dig it out cause I'm curious....)
But I got to say yours is really cool !!

 

I own a plated Half with 2 dif years stamped in it?

 

It is stamped with 1960 and either 1980 or 1985. It commemorates the anniversary of JFK's election victory.

I have never seen that parachute counterstamp before. On eBay it would fetch a dollar or two to the right buyer. Not a bad return on your 1 cent investment.
