If by some chance that one or some of planchets did survive for a long period of time before coming loose. It may have found it's way into the coining presses and could have happened. Have ever lost something, and then located it days or several years later? Have ever worked in a place that had a lot of equipment? There are a lot of places that things can hide.
Yes.. There are known transitional errors. Post 1964 Quarters struck on silver planchets.. But they are all silver. Each person that has posted on this thread has stated that their Quarters have a BROWN EDGE which is a huge clue as to what type of planchet it really is.. Clad with a Copper Core!
