I recently picked up a Constantine II as Caesar in @John Anthony 's 2nd to last auction. While I had a couple from uncleaned hoards I was looking forward to an upgrade which fortunately was achieved.

Constantine II, as Caesar, A.D. 317-337

    AE19, 2.6 grams, 12h; Thessalonica mint, A.D. 330-333

Obverse: CONSTANTINVS JVN NOB C; Laureate, cuirassed bust right.

Reverse: GLORIA EXERCITVS; Two soldiers standing facing each other, each holding a spear and shield, two standards between them. In Exergue SMTSB

    Reference: RIC VII 184, p.524

Hope you like it and feel free to post any examples deemed relevant!

My most handsome Constantine II coin:

    Constantine II Heraclea.jpg
Constantine II as Caesar, AD 317-337
    Roman Æ Centenionalis; 3.86 gm; 18.2 mm
    Heraclea, AD 327-329
Obv: CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust, right
Rev: PROVIDENT-IAE CAESS, campgate with two turrets, no doors; star above. Dot left field; SMHЄ in exergue
    Refs: RIC 96; RCV 17241; Cohen 164.

And, while I'm at it, a plea for help. Here's a GLOR-IA EXERC-ITVS with two standards, 2.84 g, 17.2 mm, 6 h. Anyone know what mint this might be from??

It troubles me that the posts to this thread on Constantinus II included some coins of Constantius II (his brother whose name was missing the second N). If we must post coins inappropriate to a thread, we should make it clear we are doing so to avoid confusing new collectors who may not be aware that Constantinus and Constantius are two different names and each was used by more than one ruler.

Below are a few of my favorite coins of ConstantiNus II, subject of this thread as defined in the original post.

This Roma seated reverse with script eros Rome mintmark was issued for all the rulers then current but that was before Constantius II became Caesar so there will be no confusion with Constantius II or Constans coins. There are Crispus and Licinius II Caesar versions but those legends are harder to confuse.

Since we are talking about confusing coins, I'll offer a coin reading CONSTANTINVS MAX AVG from Siscia which actually belongs to Constantinus II as Augustus. Each of the boys issued a few coins after their father died pointing out that they were the new generation MAX emperors. The ones in the name of Constantinus II read like we expect for coins of his father. I suppose you could say the portrait looks young but the way to tell these is to look them up in RIC. All will be one standard issues. Any Augustus coins of Constantine II are a little scarce compared to his Caesar coins since he died not all that long after becoming Augustus.

    another but Alexandria:

Not all of them have MAX. This is Antioch.

If you have trouble finding your coin of Constantine the Great in RIC volume VII, consider looking in volume VIII under his son.

I started this reply saying we should not post a coin of Constantius II in a thread about his brother unless there was a good reason explained so as not to be confusing. Now I risk breaking my rule by showing a Constantius II MAX coin of Alexandria confusingly like the green ConstantiNus II MAX shown earlier. See the difference? A little worse centering and this coin might be unidentifiable.
