Hi Im really new to coin collecting. I found this 1988 D penny in my change the other day. I did some reasearch and found that mine appears to be a 1988 D with 1989 reverse FG. My coin also has other errors on it, that I have not found information on. There seems to be an error on, "In God We Trust". Also some possible cud near Lincoln's bowtie. I was wondering if anyone could give me more info on this. If it is really a 1988 D with reverse 89 and with other errors? And also possible value, and whether to keep or sell it? Any info would be very helpful and appreciated. Thanks. 20170803_152746.jpg 20170803_150202.jpg 20170803_150152.jpg 20170801_203827.jpg 20170801_223833.jpg 20170801_200007.jpg 20170801_200019.jpg 20170801_200049.jpg

The first picture maybe on the 89 reverse. Second picture looks like a big no on 89 reverse. The third is too blurry to tell. The obverse anomalies you see is a plating issue or trail die. You can google trail die or search here for it. These small cent coins have some copper plating issues that can sort of mimic actual errors.

No real value other than novelty.

Thanks. The FG is definitely like the first picture. It is way easier to see in person. I have been trying to get a better picture with no luck. Thank you for the reply and info. I will look into what you have said about the obverse as well. I was hoping for more value then nolvelty. I guess Im not that lucky. Lol. Thanks again.

See how there is no bar on the G, and the coin is suffering from plating blisters! Only die markers can identify the coin.
