Corrosion silver!!!!!!!!!!

    What for problems give corrosion on silver, itis lower value has it more problems
    i dont not much from silver

    example i see in my eyes a nice old coin, is corrosion now so problem, those it destroy the hole coin.

    I dont understand why corrosion is so problem it is a hundred years old coin

    PS not my coin

    If you are reading all the threads over on the other side. It is more of an attempt to keeping museum quality and better example for the future generations, I think that it is the same thing as conserving an ancient so that it can be cared for and hopefully preserved for the rest of it's life.

    I found this info in a Google search:

    "Silver is almost a noble metal like gold and platinum, but with an Achilles heel, which is sulfur. When chemically attacked by sulfur, it can both form a very thin, even brown-black patina that may be polished away with slight metal loss, and it can form black fissures and pits. Strong acid and salt conditions appear to increase the pitting attack, such as seen in salt dishes and mustard pots, hence the gilding often applied."
