I think most of you are hearing hoof beats and think it is giraffes. It is most likely from change being put on a food tray or table top as people eat fast food. Most catsup, hot sauce, pizza sauce, etc. is many times more acidic and salt containing than urine and many more time readily ignore by people scooping their coins up and putting them into their pocket, then picking a coin out of a urinal or off the floor in a bathroom. This is how old fishtales get started. Jim
I live and work in NYC doing building maintenance. I have a bar at the ground floor of my building. Many patrons and homeless people dislike Cents and toss them here and there especially at the entrances of my building and freight area doorway. After a few days of people urinating in my doorways I have to scoop up old cigarette butts, broken bottles and Cents with old dried urine. The result is as the Cent posted today. Truth in all I have said
I can say I've had the, umm, pleasure of examining many post-urine cents, nor do I have any real reason to doubt you. However, Jim does make excellent as well as unquestionably logical points that I can personally second. Still, and as with many of the coins we see posted here, all we can reasonably do is speculate.
I'm not going to get caught up in the secondary discussion! But really(!), who in their right mind would think that the image displayed rainbow toning? Chris
