Haha! I wonder if it’s through Publix or something. Around my way ( the tristate ) we mostly just have coin stars or private coon counters in banks. Neither of which let you exchange paper for the coins. I’ve seen some awesome vids online. Dude bought $28 or something like that in half dollars and most were silver.

It’s funny how we search so hard for pre60s then I find one on the floor with the rest of someone’s pocket change. I work at a county park, get finds like these every now and then. Found 6 wheaties in 1 day once. 1919 was the oldest.

 

Still got quite a few nickels to go lol. I’ve been working Harder on my dime book ‘64-‘04.

 

It actually is a pretty sweet 1950(p)! No major damage or things to wine about. Lol even my 47s is just as good! Those two are literally better than the rest of the album! I also keep this 57d in its own cardboard. I have doubles.I titled it brilliant, just not “BU” . and sorry for the photos loading in the incorrect order. My only other “great” nickel is a ‘45S wartime Uncirculated. Of all these mentioned and photo’d ONLY the 45s was bought, for 3$. The rest were 100% roll/pocketchange hunting!

 

I’ll take a peak and get back to you. You can have any non-silver I find. They’ll all be circulated, but I don’t think you’ll mind.

 

I’m not really good at moderation when it comes to coins. If they were available by the truckload for under face value; I would buy them. My purchases here are actually financially focused, vs collecting. I’m in a unique position here and I’m taking full advantage. However, I would not feel comfortable sharing a hoard of larger denominations, while they are in my home. I feel that Lincoln’s are safe, because they have extremely low value in Germany. Higher denominations are a little more sought after. I might have some things to share come end of 2019 when I return to the US. I don’t think I could manage variety hunting in more than one denomination. Any higher denominations would really be searching for silver and major errors and then rolling.

I've been collecting since the 1960s... and I'd recommend any coins that have original luster left on them belong in a 2x2, not in an album. true story: I put a bunch of UNC lincolns in an album back in about 1975. In the early 2000s I opened it up again and took them out. All the obverses were dull and worn = XF or so while the reverses were still AU - UNC. I keep mine in 2x2s housed in the plastic pages that cost 50 cents to a dollar or so each in a 3 ring binder.

Yeah all my best coins are in 2x2s and in that same type of binder page. I guess I over looked the 50p and was more happy to fill the hole. I’ll probably take it out and just mark the hole where to find it. I have a Lincoln cent book that I’m only putting great conditioned coins into , the real difference it I put 3laters of paper towel between the pages as they fold. The book itself is kept in a drawer with most my other stuff. A huge saver I think, in my drawers and atleast 1 per jar, is a Silica packet. These things really absorb moisture. In fact I’ve read they are even better than rice. Just a helpful tip if you didn’t use it already. They’re free when you buy things so I just stack em up when I can!

 

After almost 60 years, I still need a 1914D LHC to fill a hole. I have no aspirations to go after the rare 1909 variants that would cost me thousands, so my Lincoln Cent collection is complete as far as I am concerned. Most of these were collected from change when I was a teenager in the 1960s.

I don't know anything at all about Jefferson Nickels. I have a few. I thought I might start a collection of Roosevelt dimes since I have been able to find several pre-1965 silver ones. the latest being a 1952D from the very same Coin Star machine that has given me those dimes and two 1960s silver quarters over the past few months.

I only have 5 “pre’65” Roosevelt dimes I’m forgetting if I have the complete mint (P,D,&S) for ‘49 or ‘59 . I’m pretty sure it’s either of those dates. At work I’ve found a Mercury Dime (1930 something) recently. Surface level! Probably my favorite find so far. I also have 3 or 4 barber dimes. Ones a New Orleans mint so that’s kinda cool. Lol , I don’t see many “O’s” anywhere else.

 

Thanks for showing this, Matthew - remembers me of the time some 50+ years ago when I so enjoyed collecting pennies and nickels and to a lesser extent, Mercs and Standing Libs, Walkers and Franklins, from circulation. I still have my Lincolns and Jeffersons, and today enjoy searching through rolls to keep them updated. I have a complete set of Lincolns and Jeffersons (except the main errors 1922 no D, 1955 DD, and 1969 S DD and 1983 DD reverse) and found everything else but the two 09-S and 5 others in circulation - my best finds include a 1914-D cent (and a fake 14-D from a 1944-D!) 1931-S and an EX Fine 1913-D, 1950-D 5 cent, 1939-D 5 cent in EX Fine, and 1938-D 50 cent. I treasure these coins as they were all found searching rolls - as well as several $50 bags of cents from the bank - I also recall getting Morgan and Peace dollars at face from the banks. Those were the good old days but it is still fun today keeping everything up to date, and hoping to find a 1983 DD reverse Lincoln as well as other hard to find modern varieties (wide and close AMs, etc). Ahhhh! I actually have only 1 Buffalo nickel. It’s a 1916 with pretty good detail left on it. I would totally appreciate those nickels!!!!
A funny thing, well rather awesome, is I actually 9 V nickels, 1 shield nickel, and only 1 Buffalo. Lol. Below are by far my best V nickels and buffalo nickel.“Full Liberty’s” as they were called when bought. My shield nickel is not the greatest of coins but I’ll snap a shot of it as well. Some of the backs look weird around the edges but please note some of them have damaged plastic sleeve.
