Was about to make a joke about "waist of money", but realized this is a family friendly forum. As to whether it's a waste of money, short answer is it depends. Personally, I don't like the coin, so it would be for me. However, if you enjoy it go for it. Might carry a premium due to cool factor.

Feels like we are starting down the path of the Royal Canadian Mint......

Had you added a hashtag (and another "o") to your post, I'd vomit.

Lol watch the mint make a coin for that nonsense. The new "2018 metoo movement black tinted gold coin".

I definitely wouldn't buy it but if you like it then it's really up to you. IMO the mint is currently making way too many coins like this and none of them will really every carry much of a premium over melt value.

On top of that, I just don't like the design of it. I think it looks cheesy and not like a legitimate collectors item. It reminds me of some cheap plastic arcade or event token.

Why can't they design beautifull coins anymore? Maybe President Trump should fire them and hire master engravers like Teddy Roosevelt back in 1907, when the Liberty head coins were replaced by the Indian Heads/ St. Gaudens Designs.

This is just another gimmicky effort at supporting unbridled federal spending.

If you came to my table looking to sell when you someday need the money, I'd politely suggest you try another dealer.

After watching the overall dismal and plummeting Mint sales figures the past ten years, I believe they are over reaching for gimmicks that are destined for failure. I would not own one. But someone will. One might as well be buying Hamilton Mint, Danbury Mint and American Mint contrivances.

The Canadian Mint had beautifull coinage upto 1936, same for the banknotes, the 1935/37 issues were outstanding, then it went downhill from there:( Most be something in the water, this is a common trend everywhere in the world. US, coinage was outstanding in design from 1795-1830. Just check this magnificent Austrian-Hungarian Empire AV 4 Dukaten 1848-A Ferdinand V (got it in Jan.) These guys knew how to design nice coins.... f5d2ab03ca76e995b53be1c4294754c4.jpg

If part of the proceeds go to cancer research, then not a total waste.

Wait, so now you go back well after the fact to edit it? Apparently you wish discomfort and illness upon some of your fellow forumites...
