I did a search and didnt see any question of the same nature of which I am going to ask. Here we go. Why is there a lower case f in the of on the back of the bicentennial quarter and not on any other US coin I have seen? Thank you.

Well, there are some others...Franklin half, Walking Liberty halves, Peace dollar, a few commeratives... all are a case of artistic license.

I dont mean to argue but on the Franklin and walking liberty they both have the captial F in of. The Bicentennial quarter has an italic looking lower case f. I wouldnt know about the commeratives but if you could point me in the direction of one that I can look up that would be great. Thank you.

Yeah... I was thinking lower case "o". As far as I know, the bicentennial quarter is the only U.S. with both letters lower case. Again, artistic license, nothing more.

This is kinda driving me nuts. I have gone through ALL of my coins looking for another one with a Lower case F and none have it. I did find the lower case o you mentioned which is one more then one coin. I swear there is something speical about this lower case f.

Well, if there is anything special, there's almost 1.7 billion of 'em out there. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Artist's are a funny lot, and sometimes want to add a personal touch.

Yep, artistic license just as in the lower case O's or the V's instead of U's on some other coins.

They are absolutely correct...it's just artistic license. Different artists have done the designs for our coins and they choose how to display the text on the coin. In this case, the designing artist just decided to have it lower case.

Welcome to the forum. That is the way the version of the cent with the construction of the dome on the capital building is supposed to be.

Hmm, never noticed that before about the 2009 Lincoln series. I guess just more artistic licence.... or a secret hidden message??? ;) 2009pennies.jpg

That's odd that just one of the four has the lower cased "of". I'm sure it was missed in the design review, or they would have made all four the same either way.
One has the words "ONE CENT" much smaller than the others, and only one has dots between the words, "E PLURIBUS UNUM".
    Definitely a conspiracy.

Red book is any collectors best friend... (just don't go by their prices they are only "best estimates" as they out of date days after printing :D)
