You better hurry and slab that new mint mark B and ship it to Heritage for auction. 1st in gets the lions share there sport.
That scratched off mark? It's in the wrong place and it's a Philly small date copper. Since only 1 1982-D small date copper has been discovered, if anyone scratched off the D on this coin, that would be the worst move you could possibly make.
With your outstanding background and associations, I am sure you know exactly what I mean. Does that assertion quoted just mean you bought a book from Whitman or are a published author, and just a paid member of ANA or an official like Kurt? You want respect for your lack of knowledge, which hasn't been demonstrated.
I actually appreciate Mr Bellman's explanations a lot. He is one of the few who truly took the time to provide valuable and educative information.
I guess the only thing left to do for the OP is to sent it in to PCGS to be graded to find the real answer ...
I agree. But, HYPOTHETICALLY, perhaps not back in 1982, at the Denver mint, when the error was discovered? The reason why only one is known, could be that all other 1982-D small date copper error coins were scratched off completely, thus keeping the error unknown.
Not a chance. you need to do some reading on how a coin is made. They would have made it back to the smelter, before they altered their own coins. Think about it!
A hypothetical, unrealistic scenario isnt going to make your coin any more valuable... Even if this was the case, how would you prove it?
But you are saying that your cent is valuable based on a claim that is bogus and has no evidence. For your cent to be worth anything, you would, in fact, have to show proof. I just can't see that happening until narwhals can talk.
