Yesterday I noticed this coin pop up on FAC. I knew I wanted it. Unfortunately I was having some issue with logging in and could not complete the purchase. Fortunately, the coin was still available when I talked to Joe this morning. He was able to fix my login issues and helped me purchase the coin. My sincere thanks to Joe for all of his help.

This coin will take a pride of place in my 12 Caesars collection. I know that it has many issues, but I thought that the portraits were quite attractive. It is an upgrade over the Caligula denarius I already own. I also like that this is an ex CNG coin.

I have been waiting over 2 years to upgrade my Caligula denarius. I have missed out on several over the last 2 1/2 years or so, 2 of them by one bid. In one case I received notice from the auction house that I won the coin, only to hear later that the auctioneer re-opened the bidding. I lost the coin by one missing increment. However, having said that the wait has been worth it.

Please post your coins of Caligula or post coins you had to try several times to get.

Nice centering, plus good detail in both obverse and reverse devices, more than make up for the rough surface of this coin. A well chosen upgrade to your previous coin!

Thank you @Bing. I have always loved that coin. The portraits are quite expressive.

I had seen that when it was listed. Thought it was a fourrée at first.

    Nice addition.

    Hi all,
The coin arrived today. As is usual with coins from FAC the coin looks better in hand than the photo. Here is my new photo. I was very excited to put this denarius in my Abafil tray. The portraits are great and quite detailed.
