Well, I started the first thousand. Seems appropriate I should start the second. New Zealand, 1949 Crown.
Had one of these Cook Islands coins with the gemstones inside it, once. They make some neat NCLT issues.
I never thought of tokens like that as coins and have never even considered buying one. I my opinion a coin should at least look as if it was meant to circulate. That is why I never really care much about proof coins either.
Yeah, I knew I had posted that one before, and I just like it so much I used it again. Maybe I should come up with some system to prevent re posting, other than my fallible memory? Here is one from Republika Pillipinas, pardon me in advance if it has been posted before.
Here's how I (only recently) discovered how to know if I've posted a particular country or not: Type your desired search keywords in the "Search" field. Type your username in the "Posted by Member" field. Check the "Search this thread only" box. Click the "Search" button, and there you go.
Thanks, I tried that and it works. Takes so long to research prior to posting something that I will probably be too late by the time I make up my so called mind.
Germany. German States (Hildesheim): silver 24 mariengroschen, 1687 (I think 24 mariengroschen= 2/3 thaler? Anyway, this was a nice big silver coin.)
I will assume that Flandria is the area now called Flanders, so next door or not far away is or was Aachen.
This could be considered against the rules since Liège and Flanders are both part of modern Belguim, but in times long ago they could be considered different "countries".
That is a neat looking old coin, please tell more about it. The maps have changed a lot over the centuries, especially in Europe. Lithuania used to be huge. I have a coin or two from "Spanish Netherlands", and I still am not sure what that means. Might have one from "Austrian Netherlands" as well.
@coin_nut, the coin is a copper Liard issued under ruler Bishop Maximilian Henry of Bavaria during the period from 1650 to 1688. Seller did not identify it but I think it is KM#73. Based on what I just looked at in The Standard Catalog, Liege was right in the middle of The Austrian Netherlands and the Spanish Netherlands. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximilian_Henry_of_Bavaria
