what are the tiny black spots on new 2017 p pennies? is there a way to remove?
Tried soap and water, so unless you really have to scrub, the black spots dont come off.
I have three that i was thinking of getting graded, but with these spots, i dont wanna spend the money.

Once you clean them.. Don't even bother sending them to get graded :yack:

It's a common problem and I don't know of a way to remove them. Don't bother with grading either. It's a waste of money and time. One cleaned, they are now considered damaged.

Not worth grading coins that are worth under $150.
Never got any P cents out here, a friend in the east mailed me 2 nice MS examples. I think I finally got one metal detecting (in good shape). No black spots on mine, I think that was a problem on the 2009 series as well, also
I saved examples without black spots.

You can buy brand new rolls of these for nearly nothing. better off buying a proof set and take the coins you want graded out.

I can understand why you were considering getting them graded, they are the only Lincoln Cent's with the P mint mark. What i did, for a relatively small cost, less than $20 and getting it graded will cost more than that, I bought one on eBay graded by NGC and signed by the designer of the coin Lyndall Bass. Costs less and a better collectable.

yea i think that's gonna be the way i go. I hate ebay, and great collection's auctions run for weeks, but i really want a 70 for this one.

I don't believe any 2017-P Lincoln Cent has been graded an MS70. As a matter of fact other than the enhanced mint set the Mint put out, I don't think any Lincoln Cent has ever received an MS70 grade.

Your right I checked NGC and from 1909 to 2017 only 2005 & 2006 SMS have been graded MS70. And even MS69 theres only a hand full. Crazy I tell ya.
