No fancy title, just a new coin. I was able to purchase a lot of 5 coins from one of the CT posters and this is the first of them. I wasn't particularly in the market, but it came at a great price so I couldn't pass it up.

A mighty fine Caracalla coin - from the fierce portrait to the Hercules reverse. Congrats!

Fun pick up @Bing! I really like the Herakles reverse. When I started collecting I loved Caracalla's coins, until I found out what a SOB he was (no offense Mrs Domna). Killing your own brother in your momma's arms is pretty despicable...though he was the one who granted anyone living in the empire full Roman citizenship. So I guess it's sixes. I still think it's pretty cool how you can watch him grow up through his coins. And man did he ROCK him some sideburns!
This was the best portrait I had in my collection for some time.

I sure do like that Caracalla Bing!!

Here are the two I have:
Caracalla (198-217), AR Denarius. Rome mint, AD 199-200.
Obv: ANTONINVS AVGVSTVS - Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right .
Rev: VICT AETERN - Victory flying left, holding wreath in both hands; at left, a shield set atop block impediment.
    RIC-IVa-47a

Caracalla (198-217), AR Denarius. Rome mint, AD 214.
Obv: ANTONINVS PIVS AVG GERM - Laureate head right.
Rev: P M TR P XVII COS IIII P P - Genius of the Senate, togate, standing left, holding branch and baton.
    RIC-IVa-246

So far I've resisted buying more Caracalla coins but it's hard since I seem to come across so many while on the hunt for a Geta. (No Geta yet that I've liked in my price range and the ones I do like of Geta seem to cost 2x/3x of what I paid for either of the above.)

Excellent die style! Look at the face on Hercules.

My favorite Caracallas are all bronze.
