I have a 1982 penny that weighs 3.11 grams so what do I need to do next?

1982 had 2 kinds of Cents that were minted.
1 was minted on a Copper Planchet and the other on a Copper Plated Zinc Planchet. It's normal.

    Right @furryfrog02 ?

The one You need to find is a 1983 that weighs 3.11 which is almost impossible!
Only 2 have ever been found to date. Here is an example..

Thanks but (The Lincoln, Memorial Reverse penny (1959 to mid 1982) weighs 3.11 grams) so how do you know if it wasn"t made mid 1982 to present?

Because then it would weigh 2.5 grams.

Your coin is a 1982 large date copper.
The incredibly rare and valuable one is the 1982-D small date copper.

You have a 1982 large date cent that is worth one cent. There is nothing to do. It is not a collectible coin.

Umm, because they did not intentionally make any of them. I thought that might be obvious.

    Three binary factors:
    Small/Large
    Philly/Denver, and
    Bronze/Zinc

Seven of the eight combos were produced in mass quantities. The only exception is Small-Denver-Bronze. I believe only one or two are known to exist.

I just bought a roll of them for $6 on eBay... I don't see how they are that rare...

If you think you just bought a roll of 1982 D, small dates. You got ripped off big time.
