1982 had 2 kinds of Cents that were minted. 1 was minted on a Copper Planchet and the other on a Copper Plated Zinc Planchet. It's normal. Right @furryfrog02 ?
The one You need to find is a 1983 that weighs 3.11 which is almost impossible! Only 2 have ever been found to date. Here is an example.. (Not my coin) -
@gslittlebit Here is the information on the 1982 Cent - http://lincolncentresource.com/smalldates/1982.html
Thanks but (The Lincoln, Memorial Reverse penny (1959 to mid 1982) weighs 3.11 grams) so how do you know if it wasn"t made mid 1982 to present?
Your coin is a 1982 large date copper. The incredibly rare and valuable one is the 1982-D small date copper.
You have a 1982 large date cent that is worth one cent. There is nothing to do. It is not a collectible coin.
Umm, because they did not intentionally make any of them. I thought that might be obvious. Three binary factors: Small/Large Philly/Denver, and Bronze/Zinc Seven of the eight combos were produced in mass quantities. The only exception is Small-Denver-Bronze. I believe only one or two are known to exist.
