I think that's one of the important questions. Just how "pink" is this coin actually going to be? If it turns out to be not that visually different from the regular gold coins it's probably really going to flop.

There is no agenda in commemorating an end to the biggest and most destructive force this planet has ever seen of great historical significance. No different than commemorating D-Day or the Civil Rights Act. Breast cancer awareness has absolutely no historical significance, doesnt commemorate anything, and its release is 100% purely political. The same cannot be said for the end of the Soviet Union.

I agree with all of this. I am all for breast cancer awareness, but i don't think the best place for it is on a coin.

There’s nothing wrong with buying it if you like the design. I just don’t so I won’t.

There are some modern commemoratives that I like. I love the 1999-W gold $5 Washington so I own one. Some people hate it. That’s ok.

I agree with your assessment of the Soviet Union but that is still an opinion and a political statement. Even if something is right that doesn't make it apolitical. Commemerating D Day, and the civil rights act would all be political

I finally saw one of these at last month's local show. I was completely unprepared for the color. It looks like bleached copper. (Not copper dipped in bleach -- more like copper harshly dipped, or heated in a reducing vapor to take off the oxidation.)

I would've been really unhappy if I'd sprung for one. I like the design, but I'd rather get one of the halves or dollars, which have the same design without the Factory Standard Questionable Color...
