1921 Peacedollar grade?

How would you grade this 1921 High Relieff Peace Dollar?

A beautiful coin with lots of luster, relatively few marks except one in face.

Not sure if hair over face and lower feathers ove legs are wear or just weak strike?

Any suggestions?

Is that a scratch from her lower hair to her upper cheek?

 

with the wear on both sides and the scratch, Good to Very Good but that scratch on the obverse is very distracting. If you don't own this coin, please pass as you can do better. If you do, then look for an upgrade, then sell this to cover your costs.

AU55-58. I'm more inclined to say 58.

I was sort of hoping for it to be uncirculated due to the amount of remaining mint luster. Thought perhaps it would be strange to have so much left if it wasn’t.

The 1921 has a bit different design and strike quality than 1922-1935 so (perhaps naively) thought that the two wear-areas mentioned could be weak strike or just how it’s supporsed to be.

But realistically, it guess it’s actually wear, and would but a button on AU still - perhaps high AU giving the luster a weight.

 

They're surprisingly weak in some areas. There's wear on this one, though. Not a lot, just some touches here and there.

 

It is absolutely impossible to grade this coin from those pictures. There is usually significant weakness from striking deficiencies on 1921 peace dollars. However, I can't tell if there is wear or not. It will come down to how the luster behaves when rotated under the light. It is either AU, or a lower grade UNC - but there is no way to grade it from these pictures.

 

I lean towards that as well but hard to say from those pics

 

I agree with @physics-fan3.14 , hard to grade from the picture. I don't like the scratch on Ms. Liberty. If I were to guess from the pictures, I'd say AU 55-58. Weak strike, but looks to have remaining luster.

I would not send it in to grade, primarily due to the scratch. I don't think it would straight grade.

These new/old pictures lead me to believe there is no wear, as I suspected. I now lean more towards a 63 grade.

 

Here is my whole set with the 1921 upper left and it is by far the one with the most beautiful luster.

 

I think someone did a bad job at dipping this coin.

 

These look great. Is it too late for me to change my grade?

 

I would be very surprised it was due to current luster and seems original. Have tried dipping on other coins and they turn out white and dull

I’m at ms 62. I had a similar coin I bought years ago I thought au 50 it was grungy and dirty too. I did give it an acetone bath when I sent it in to pcgs and was very surprised when it came back ms 63. Yours could go 58 too but I’m not seeing the luster breaks of an au. I think the mark holds it to 62 though
