Here is an (VAM-1G die gouge from GOD and Chin to Rim) 1923 Peace Dollar. What grade would you put on the flip?

    Ben:
That hit below the eye is distracting, so I'd go 63.

Very nice R4 vam Ben. Looks like a MS62. :thumb:

Total guess - MS64, Very little wear anywhere with a few minor hits.

    Very Nice!

Gotta give that one an MS64, in spite of the hits in prime focal areas.

Very strong hair, bold eagle. Better strike than most.

That little nick beneath the eye is a real shame - that's a nice piece.

I'd grade it a 63, but I think the TPGs would likely grade it 64.

    Nice strike on it too!

    Thanks for sharing...Mike

Good solid MS-63. Too many hits for a MS-64 even with the strong strike and great luster.

Ben's coin has the word "PEACE" stand out so prominently on the reverse compared to others coins I have seen in the past. Excellent solid strike!

MS62 and either your picture did not capture the luster or it has been cleaned.

btw; That is a much better strike than Leadfoot's.

Well I would say 63, but the pictures does not show the mint luster as RLM stated. Then again I wonder how much the holder takes away from leadfoots coin - both are nice coins!!!

My coin is actually a bit better struck than the image might suggest (although not quite as well struck as Bone's in point of fact). The photos (and lighting used) actually make it look like a larger difference than you guys might think...Mike
