Can anyone tell me if I can sell 1986 50$ am eagle 1oz prf. On ebay/ Amazon without a grading certificate? Morgan Gold solds IRA gold coins and deposited into a depository. They claim that were gold prf. Now I took possesson of the coins and they had not certification. Why not? Is that a scam? Thank you
I've been told different things about the rules, but the sense of the regulations is that "collectible coins" are not eligible. It's possible that slabbed coins would not be eligible. Here's a site claiming that proof coins must be in original mint packaging with COA. Welcome to CoinTalk!
Not sure why anyone would deposit proof coins into an IRA. As far as I know they only count for melt value as far as the IRA is concerned. I'm not even sure you get the same coins back if you withdraw them. My understanding was that you were merely depositing a certain amount a gold and got that amount back. Never done it though so I cannot be sure. I prefer to have possession of my gold in a place locally where I can get it at short notice. And, yes, you can certainly sell them anywhere you wish. You will probably only get the going rate for them though, which is related to the bullion value.
Do you have a pics of coins ? Are they in US Mint plastic capsules ? These are year 2000 Proofs from the US Mint 4 coin set sets.
The $50 one ounce coin is selling for around $1400-1450. The $25 1/2 ounce is selling around $750. I am guessing that a local coin shop would give you around spot price (possibly under).
