Unless I’m mistaken, Heritage apparently did not have a Sunday night U.S. coin auction. And they haven’t posted an auction for next Sunday night. Too late here to call them. Have they discontinued it?
Pretty sure they announced a month or so ago that they were stopping the Sunday auctions. I'm glad they are, there were way to many things all ending on Sunday at the same time from way to many sources. Someone needed to move to a different day
True. David Lawrence has theirs on Sunday, along with Great Collections. Some of the Heritage twice-a-week auctions have had slim pickings lately.
Exactly, plus so many eBay people think Sunday night is the best time to end. That time period got really crowded really quickly. Spreading them all out more should be better for everyone.
I agree, too many auctions with not enough quality coins. I bought two coins at auction from HA and stopped because I couldn't find the rest of the series I was looking for in the condition and grade I want.
I don't really look at US coins. But isn't the main reason why auctions end on weekends simply because there are more people that have free time? I understand not everyone works as weekday career...
That's the logic of it, that most people are home on a Sunday night ect and there is truth to it. But it gets counter productive when you have 4 different major venues ending at the same time. Buyers had to start picking and choosing which ones to watch or have four different windows open ect
I like having one combined auction so much better. I currently rank them below all of Stacks, GC and Legend by a wide margin but just having one a week with double offerings may have me check in more often. They need to update their pictures. About a year ago I thought I had them figured out to an extent but back to back orders looked nothing like I expected and I gave up trying. Their pictures are great for analyzing the surfaces only which I personally don't care about nearly as much as eye appeal and luster. I found myself getting a lot of technically good for the grade boring lifeless coins which is the exact opposite of what I'm after.
I hate that some places have moved in that direction. I don't care about what hits I can see when I magnify it to the size of a dinner plate on my computer, just show me what it will look like when I am holding it in my hand not what it would look like if I used a spot light to look at it
