Here's a pretty hideous Claudius II. The obverse legend IMP CLAVDIVS CAES AVG apparently makes this coin somewhat scarce since most legends don't include CAES. Not sure how true that is. upload_2018-2-11_20-16-34.png

Ooh, nice one, Chris. Very sharp and perfectly centered.

Nice, I don't have one. Apparently the legend with CAES is relatively rare as they were only struck at Siscia for a short period (end 268).

That’s good to hear. Got it in a group of uncleaneds. Probably cost me $3 on average.

    My sole Claudius:
    Claudius II (Gothicus), AD 268 - 270
    AE, antoninianus, 3.8g, 20mm; 11h; Rome, AD 269
Obv.: IMP C CLAUDIUS AVG; radiate, draped, curiassed bust right
Rev.: GENIVS AVG; Genius standing left by altar, holding patera and cornucopiae

This coin was in a lot I bought when I first started collecting.

Thanks, Curtis. The old RIC is now very inadequate for Claudius II. Regarding your coin, if there's one pellet below the bust, it will be this issue in the new online RIC database. If there are two pellets, it will be this one.

That's fantastic Z, thank you! I believe mine is the 1 dot but I will have to get the coin out and check it.
