    True

But it actually tells you something about how labels were done in those days. This was the earliest days of Laser Printers and they were $4,000 to $5,000 monstrosities.

He would have used a master file on a floppy disk to print one side of a sheet of paper. You would have taken it out and turned it over and possibly turned it 180 degrees (depending on the printer).

And then you would print the second side from a file you built with your per slab labels.

The master would have been four across and maybe 20 copies of the small label down or a single sheet with about 20 copies of both of the reverse labels. A single stray keystroke and ACCUGRADE becomes ACCURADE. If somebody couldn't find the master disk it would have had to been recreated which meant carefully typing the same wording 80 or 100 times with a precise pattern of tabs and spaces and returns.

It was also possible to hamd code in postscript (the internal language of the printer), but that was very difficult. One typo and you got nothing or just an obscure error message - or worst 100s of pages of gibberish.

Nice! That was definitely a premium for the holder! Shows you how much I know.

It's a minor rarity :p ...I know of 2 or 3 - the one posted, one that @Burton Strauss III owns, and one more that I believe someone else posted a few years back on some forum (this may have been one of the two already known).

I did a Google search and the only posts for Accurade are mine and yours discussing the discoveries... I wanted to post the rare (it does not exist according to Alan Hagar) Accugrade Photo Sample, but found I don't have a pic. So while that is being remedied for someday...

On another front, I am building a "collection" of the 50SQ/ATB representing each of the 50 states and 6 territories, commonwealths and protectorates. I take a bit of a loose view here - anything except show releases is OK. SAMPLE is a bonus. Not for Resale is good. For a while I had an Arizona Charlie's poker chip from Las Vegas filling in for Nevada.

Yes I know I'm crazy, if you haven't figured that out YET, I'm sorry for you... But it's inside my head and I know most of the characters there and they know me, so pfffft....

Many states are easy to find, but some are quite rare unless you know where to look (the 200x NGC Collectors Society knocked off several years worth until the switched to those dratted Golden Dollars and missed the last five states and the territories...)

Utah was one of the missing ones, however, with this purchase, there are now just 3 "missing" states and 4 or 5 of the territories (depends on whether you count the 5oz Silver Quarter from PR). DC fell recently with the Fredrick Douglas ATB.

I know it's worth about 25c. However, it was Utah. So, what did I pay?

    $7

I would like to guess high since it was a hard one to find, but I could just as easily see it being listed by some ebay seller/dealer at a show that is unaware of our holder passion. I will stick with the low number and say you were quite satisfied with the purchase!
