Added a few more FH to my collection recently. This first in and earlier issue from Cyzikus. It has a good deal of silvering (which made for a bad photo) and a small amount of earthen deposit left on. Constantius II AE2. 351-355 AD. 25mm 4.89g D N CONSTAN-TIVS P F AVG, diademed, draped & cuirassed bust right / FEL TEMP RE-PARATIO, soldier standing left, spearing a fallen horseman wearing a Phrygian helmet, clutching, Star left, SMK Epsilon in ex. Cyzikus 67 Scarce I picked this next one up because it made me laugh, looking like Gallus has his mouth full. Constantius Gallus DN CONSTANTI-VS NOB CAES bare-headed, draped, cuirassed bust right FEL TEMP-REPARATIO soldier spearing Horseman, bearded, bare-headed, reaching, reaching ALEΓ in ex Alexandria 81 Also picked up these little, decent looking FH for cheap. Constantius II 14 mm DN CONSTAN-TIVS PF AVG, pearl diademed, draped, cuirassed bust right FEL TEMP-REPARATIO, soldier spearing Horseman, bearded, hair in braids, reaching AN epsilon / M left Antioch 190 Constantius II DN CONSTAN-TIVS PF AVG, pearl diademed, draped, cuirassed bust right FEL TEMP-REPARATIO, soldier spearing Horseman, bearded, two braids, clutching ANZ / M left Antioch 191 Feel free to pile on any.
Great additions to your army. The second one looks like he wearing those wax lips. Or maybe he is following the Kardashian’s trend of lip injections.
Nice ones with the early Cyzicus being the star of the show. The Gallus is almost hilarious. I don't have any 190s but have a couple of 191s.
I have only added two Horseman recently and neither is worthy of their own threads so I will piggyback on this one to share them (sorry @randygeki). The first has a small flan and worn dies. Nothing much going for it other than it's a surviver looking for a home. Constantius II - AE2 Obv:– D N CONSTANTIVS P F AVG, Pearl diademed, draped & cuirassed bust right, Rev:– FEL TEMP REPARATIO, Helmeted soldier left, shield on left arm, spearing falling horseman; shield at ground to right. Horseman turns to face the soldier, and reaches his left arm up towards him. He is bare headed and bearded Minted in Antioch (E | _ /ANZ). 350-355 AD. Reference:- RIC VIII Antioch 144 The second is a RIC gap for me. It's a very common Siscia. The contrasting patination is a distraction. It almost looks as though there was something (maybe a smaller coin) protecting the surfaces on the obverse from the elements that changed the rest of the coin to a thick green. Constantius II - AE3 Obv:– D N CONSTANTIVS P F AVG, Pearl diademed, draped & cuirassed bust right Rev:– FEL TEMP REPARATIO, Helmeted soldier to left, shield on left arm, spearing falling horseman; shield on ground at right. Horseman wears a Phrygian helmet and reaches back towards the emperor Minted in Siscia (//ASIS). Reference:- RIC VIII Siscia 350 (C3)
Very nice coins @randygeki that Cyzikus is a real winner. Out of curiosity, how many FH do you have and how do you catalogue them?
Thanks all Thats a neat effect with the patina. Cool additions 137 at the moment I need to make a spread sheet but they are all on my forvm gallery. So it is easy to access for me to check what I have. http://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=3368
Do any of you keep a hard copy catalog of your collection? Aside from receipts/invoices. I kind of just want to print out a thumbnail view of my gallery
