Hadrian Sestertius (From Frank)

    Yep. I guess I am starting the show and tell from Frank. It arrived today (not bad for coast to coast delivery). So much nicer than I had expected (Franks photos are notoriously bad). I should have dusted it off before I shot the pic I guess hadrian sest.jpg :

    The ones I've seen, Salus is standing the opposite way, here are 2 of mine:

    I really like that patina. What causes it to darken like that in spots? Just centuries in cabinets and envelopes?

    I see it the opposite way. Your photo makes the most of what he (under?)described as "very sl scratchlike flaws in rev field". His photo barely shows them but yours make them look like gouges. Not knowing how bad they look 'in hand' makes it hard to say if they ruin the coin. The obverse is nice either way.

    Photos can really overemphasize scratching. This one, for example, looks really nice in-hand; the photo, though, makes it look like Marciana was the victim of an axe-murderer:
