50 years from now a 1965 left in circulation will look like a P1 Barber does now. Being the first clad coin and minted for several years, billions made, etc., they are not wearing well. Most of the ones I find now in circulation barely get beyond a glance before they go to the spend pile.

But 12 of them will get you a decent amount of good India Pale Ale.

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

Frankly, this is not true. P01 Barbers got that way MUUUUUUCH quicker than 1965 quarters have been around. Yes, when I FIRST got involved with coins, Barber coins (later ones) were more recent coins than 1965 quarters are today! Barber coins had two problems - crummy weak relief, and they were made of SILVER, which doesn't take wear at all well. The modal clad quarter will NEVER be as bad off as the typical Barber quarter. Their existences are that fundamentally different.

Oh, and "good India Pale Ale" just might be an oxymoron. Jus' sayin'.
